I was raised by Nintendo
I still remember when I got my first Gameboy. A simple silver clamshell that was the Gameboy SP, was my pride and joy growing up. I knew early on that Nintendo wasn’t just a product, it was an idea, a realm of infinite possibilities at my fingertips.
Innovation and creating smiles has been the essence of Nintendo that has sprouted creativity, relationships, and a massive following since its conception. I want to contribute to this legacy by working as the Retail Marketing & Strategy Intern at Nintendo.
I shoot for the moon
It is one thing to complete a task by simply adhering to guidelines, it is another to go beyond that, to own your work, and reach for the stars. This is what I strive to accomplish when I translate data into the creation of value for customers, a tool known as strategic storytelling. Whether it’s users on Issuu, active members at Pi Sigma Epsilon, or members on Wonplanet, I aim to generate value in exchange for their patronage.
Through strategic storytelling, I use data to understand the past and present, while using narrative to direct my vision for the future. Through the combination of logos and pathos, using facts and emotions to drive the sense of value, I work to empower customers to shoot for the moon.
I venture the unknown
I’m constantly searching for new ways to develop personally and professionally, rather than waiting to learn through schooling or work experience. As of right now, I’m exploring marketing analytics through developing Facebook advertisement skills, as well as studying simulations of Google Analytics with the goal in mind of becoming certified. Venturing the unknown to learn outside of schooling not only allows me to apply my knowledge to real world scenarios, but also increases my value and skill as a business professional.
I’m a launchpad for positive change
I try to not accept the status quo at face value, and find ways to create learning opportunities while channeling growth in my community. My freshman year at Indiana University, I experienced racial discrimination towards myself and my Asian American friends. Instead of cruising past the hatred, I used this experience as a launchpad for positive change within my community. Through co-founding the AAPI Thematic Community on Indiana University campus, a dormitory sector centered around the learning and awareness of Asian culture and struggle rooted in America, I was able to kick start the conversation on inclusivity at my campus. This is the first program of its kind in the state of Indiana, and one of few in the Midwestern US.
